I've always been obsessed with beauty.
Not perfect beauty.
Not flawless beauty.
The kind of beauty that makes me stop.
The kind that stays with me long after I've closed a magazine or left an exhibition.
For years I've been looking for that feeling.
First through photography.
Today through creative direction.
More recently through AI.
But the obsession has never changed.
Only my idea of beauty has.
When I was younger, I thought beauty was something you could see.
Now I think it's something you can feel.
A face that doesn't explain itself.
A woman who looks away.
A wrinkle that makes someone look more alive, not older.
The silence inside an image.
The fashion campaigns I return to aren't always the most beautiful.
They're the ones that leave me with questions.
The ones I keep thinking about days later.
That's probably why I spend so much time directing details that most people never consciously notice.
A gaze.
A posture.
The distance between two people.
The tension in a hand.
The empty space around a subject.
I'm not trying to make photographs look real.
I'm trying to make them feel true.
Lately I've been reading about psychology, perception and memory.
Not because I'm looking for a formula.
Only because I'm curious.
Why do some images stay with us?
Why do we remember one photograph for years and forget another in seconds?
I don't think the answer is beauty alone.
I think it's something quieter.
Something harder to describe.
Maybe that's what creative direction has always meant to me.
Not finding certainty.
Not creating perfection.
Simply getting a little closer to the kind of beauty I can't stop looking for.
